SABC Education Baba Indaba is one of the most prized baby and parent expos in operation and secures over R55 million in television and media coverage both nationally and internationally. The event’s many accolades are testament to its success – the show won three top awards in 2009 including the EXSA “Most Memorable Event of the Year”. With years of experience under their belts, the organisers of SABC Education Baba Indaba understand their target market and exhibitors needs. Organisers maintain the highest quality at every show with regards to delivery to exhibitors of quality visitors and a professionally organised event.

Exhibitors have expressed their appreciation and support of Baba Indaba at previous shows:-

Design By Nature also commented “Baba Indaba Johannesburg was an excellent show for us. Interestingly we noticed a definite change in buyer demographics, with a noticeable rise in spend as well as a higher frequency of spend. All-in-all a really nice and successful show for us. We will most definitely be back next year!”

Hylands said “We were very impressed with the organisation of the show. Everyone was a pleasure to work with and always immediately responsive to any queries that arose. We were also impressed with the turnout of people at the show – overall, we had a very positive experience and look forward to exhibiting again at Baba Indaba next year.”

Cherished Belly expressed their satisfaction “We found the recent show extremely beneficial for the launch of our new product to the Johannesburg market. The profile of the consumer was completely spot-on and the volume of people through the door exceeded our expectations! (we were 20 units shy of being completely sold-out!) Thank you to Baba Indaba for a great show and for always being so friendly and helpful.”

Alongside an extensive range of exhibitors, SABC Education Baba Indaba offers many other exciting draw cards to ensure the largest and most varied audience. The organisers are committed to environmental sustainability and last year introduced the green awards for vendors that offer products which promote a liveable planet for future generations. The show also supports various NGOs and charities in an effort to aid disadvantaged communities.

Exhibitor satisfaction is evident in their year on year loyalty to the event and with media heavyweights such as SABC Education behind it, it is no surprise that a large number of leading brands have already signed up for the year.

This year, to add to the excitement, SABC Education Baba Indaba will be joined by the all-new Kids Indaba. “Six years on we at SABC Education Baba Indaba are aware of the need to grow with the times and evolve. We are committed to offering something better and more innovative each year, rather than tired formulas and the addition of the Kids Indaba is testament to that.” Says show director Natalie Naudé,

“Our audience and exhibitors have come to expect something special and we are proud to deliver on that year in and year out.”

Kids Indaba is an exhibition catering exclusively to the needs of children between 6 and 12 as well as their parents. Children at this age are exposed to between three and five thousand brands a year, they are critical, realistic and consumer savvy. These kids are embedded with their own needs, trends and styles and that is why we have chosen to have an expo devoted to them. This age group of children have a great sense of priority and identity, they are able to discern what appeals to them apart from, as well as, in conjunction with what their parents suggest and thus the Kids Indaba will provide an opportunity for parents to gain greater understanding into their children’s likes and dislikes while the kids are exposed to a variety of popular brands and therefore able to refine their preferences. This age group provides an untapped market with issues to be addressed and the organisers of Baba Indaba were only too happy to take on the challenge.

Aside from the accolades that they have received, SABC Education Baba Indaba’s success can be seen in the calibre of names that are signing up to partner with the expo. The Sunday Times is the latest addition to the fold, they bring with them an excellent initiative called Sunday Times ReadRight which aims to promote education and reading among the youth. It is a charity project to raise funds for children whose parents can’t afford the education that they deserve. The Sunday Times ReadRight area will have books on sale – all proceeds going to charity, as well as a comfy setting for storytelling time.

One thing that all parents have in common is to want the best for their child. Uniquely to the SABC Education Baba Indaba is that the organisers understand this and therefore draws an audience across the South African populace. Every parent should have the opportunity to expose themselves to an environment such as this in order to be educated and informed. In the same vein, every child deserves a parent who has their best interests at heart. A sentiment the expo delivers on as is evident in its variety of quality visitors.

The Baba Indaba is also the only expo showcased in five venues around the country – Durban, Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg and for the first time – Soweto. This ensures that your product is part of an exhibition that has the largest reach in the country. It offers an opportunity to market your brand in an environment that offers something special and out of the ordinary.

Winner of the 2009 Top Women Awards and show director, Natalie Naudé said: “2010 is an exciting year for our country and Baba Indaba is embracing soccer fever and the unity it promotes within our nation. We are encouraging moms, dads, children and grandparents from all over Durban to join us and be inspired, entertained and informed in this uplifting atmosphere.” She added, “Each year we encourage a broad range of exhibitors in all categories in an effort to offer visitors the widest choice to satisfy their needs. We are enormously supportive of small businesses showcasing their products and can boast an outstanding mix of exhibitors.”
